LEARN TO SKATE - Willowbrook Ice Arena offers a fundamental program that provides a fun, goal-oriented curriculum to teach skaters of ages 3 to adult at every skill level

Fall 2 2024 Session (Nov 6 - Dec 21)

  • Fridays 5:15 or 6:15pm
  • Saturdays 8:45 or 9:45am
  • Wednesdays - 5:35pm (Snowplow Sam 1-4 & Basic 1-3 only)

Winter 2024 Session (Jan 8 - Mar 1)

Snowplow Sam

Snowplow Sam Level 1- 4 (Ages 3-5)
For 3-5 year-olds who have zero or little skating experience. This class uses a variety of games and easy understand terms to teach the basic skating skills and comfort on the ice. New skaters aged 3-5 should sign up for Snowplow Sam Level 1.

Basic Skills

Basic Levels 1-6 (Ages 6 & up)
Basic skills are the fundamentals of the sport. These levels introduce the fundamental moves: forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, turns, Mohawks. New skaters aged 6-11 should sign up for Basic 1.

Pre-Freeskate

After passing Basic 6 comes pre-freeskate. This class will build on recently learned skills and create a strong foundation to prepare skaters to advance to private lessons and other specialized areas of skating.

Freestyle Levels 1-6  

Free Skate levels give skaters a strong foundation on which to build up their skills. This is where students will learn more advanced moves like jumps and spins.

Adult (18+)

The Adult curriculum is designed for both beginning & experienced adult skaters who wish to improve their skating skills. Participation in the program will promote physical fitness & improve balance & coordination.

Pre-Teen/Teen (Ages 11-17)
This class for ages 11-17 provides the best foundation to learn and grow as a skater. Six progressive levels introduce the fundamental building blocks of ice skating and teach the necessary skills to develop as a skater.

Refund Policy: Should a client decide after completion of ONE class they would like to drop from the session, a prorated refund will be granted. After two classes have been attended, NO refunds will be given. After the third week of the session NO refunds will be given for any reason. A $20 processing fee will be applied to all refunds.

Class-time changes: No time/day changes will be allowed after the second week of classes.
